The feature “Cash on delivery (COD)” is most useful in the world of E-commerce. Purpose of it is to make transaction in which customer makes payment for goods at the time of delivery.Customer can make payment by cash, Credit card or cheque, depending on the shipping contract stipulates.
Previously if customer wants to purchase anything then he/she should have to visit retailer for it. But now customer has facility to buy anything on their door step by just order any item & make payment on delivery.
The customer does not need to own a credit card to purchase.
Impulse purchases may increase as payment is not due at the time of ordering.
The credibility of retailers may be increased because the consumer only has to pay when the item is delivered.
